Introduction to Systemize Your Side Hustle

Welcome to the Systemize Your Side Hustle podcast! I’m Leah, your host and a system strategist for working moms. I totally get the balancing act of juggling a full-time job, a side hustle, and family life. My podcast covers everything from clever home hacks to smooth business automation—all aimed at helping you weave systems seamlessly into your daily life. I believe in the power of strategic planning to help you run a thriving business while still carving out time for yourself.

The Power of Emails in Business

Let’s talk about the power of email in business. In one of my episodes, I shared some eye-opening stats that show just how much better email performs compared to social media:

Engagement Rates: The average open rate for email marketing is 21%, while Facebook posts only have an engagement rate of about 0.18%.

Conversion Rates: Email marketing has a conversion rate of around 6%, compared to just 2% for social media platforms.

Reach: About 90% of emails sent actually get to the intended recipients, compared to only 2% of your Facebook or Instagram followers seeing your posts because of algorithm constraints.

These numbers highlight just how powerful email marketing can be in driving engagement and conversions. It’s truly an invaluable tool for small business owners and beginners in email marketing.

My Personal Email Stats

To give you a real-life example, here are my personal stats:

Email Open Rate: 41%

Email Engagement (Click to Open) Rate: 58%

Instagram Engagement Rate: 6%

These stats show that my email list is super engaged, proving just how effective email marketing can be.

Streamlining Your Business with Email Marketing

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to automate your business processes through email. It enhances customer experience and builds strong relationships. Here’s a breakdown of the three key phases in my email marketing strategy:

1. Inquiry Phase

First up is the inquiry phase. This is all about capturing potential customers’ attention and getting them into your email system. Here’s how you can do it:

Lead Magnets: Offer valuable freebies or lead magnets via email to start building trust right from the start. Popular lead magnets include quick checklists, self-assessments, quizzes, or short video tutorials that offer quick wins and prepare prospects for your paid offers.

Automated Responses: Set up an automatic response to inquiries with essential information about you and your services. Make sure your welcome email makes a strong first impression by sharing your story, outlining your services, and providing actionable next steps.

2. Purchase or Service Delivery Phase

Next is the purchase or service delivery phase. This kicks in once a client makes a purchase or signs up for your service. Here’s what you should do:

Confirmation Emails: Send confirmation emails with all the details of their purchase or service, including receipts and additional support information.

Client Onboarding: For services that require interaction, send a series of onboarding emails with essential information, reminders, and updates. Regular communication ensures a smooth experience and reduces the number of client inquiries.

3. Transition Phase

Last but not least is the transition phase. Effective offboarding is super important and provides a great opportunity to gather feedback, offer additional services, and invite clients to stay in your ecosystem:

Feedback Collection: Use one-click surveys or tools like Google Forms or Jotform to gather valuable feedback. Make the process easy and quick to encourage higher response rates.

Next Steps: Offer upsell opportunities, invite them to join your community, or simply thank them and let them know to expect future valuable emails from you. This ongoing engagement builds loyal relationships and keeps your audience connected.

Conclusion

Implementing an effective email marketing strategy can seriously boost your business by ensuring high engagement and conversion rates. My approach, with its well-defined phases and strong emphasis on automation, offers a practical framework that anyone can adopt. Whether you’re just starting or looking to optimize your existing processes, my insights provide a great starting point to systemize your side hustle.
