Hey Sis! Welcome back to "Systemize Your Side Hustle." Today, we’re talking about one of the most essential keys to entrepreneurial success: community and connection. Whether you’re just starting your side hustle or scaling it to new heights, building a supportive network can make all the difference. So, grab a cup of tea (or wine) and let’s dive in!

The Power of Community

Starting a business often feels like being thrown into the deep end, but the truth is, you don’t have to swim alone. For the past two years, I’ve been part of an incredible digital mentorship group led by a prominent business mogul. This group is predominantly made up of Black business owners, all at different stages of their entrepreneurial journey. Despite our different experiences, we’re united by a common goal: growing our businesses together. This sense of community has been a game-changer for me, providing both knowledge and emotional support.

Your Business Besties: A Lifeline

Think back to your freshman year of high school. You were new, unsure, and maybe a little nervous, but what made it bearable were the friends you made along the way. As you progressed through the years, you found your crew, and everything started to feel more manageable—and even fun! Entrepreneurship is no different. Having your "business besties" by your side will help you weather the ups and downs of running a business. These are the people who will celebrate your wins, help you brainstorm ideas, and offer a shoulder to lean on when things get tough. They’re like your business family—always there to lift you up.

Stage in Life Connection

Balancing business with motherhood, or any other major life stage, can be overwhelming. Personally, as a mom to a toddler, I know all about juggling playdates with client meetings. In my mentorship group, I’ve found other mothers who understand the unique challenges of balancing parenting with entrepreneurship. Having that shared life experience creates a bond that goes beyond just business—it’s about mutual understanding and support. Whether you’re a corporate professional trying to get your side hustle off the ground or a mom balancing a million things at once, connecting with others who "get it" can be an absolute lifeline.

Common Goals: The Secret Sauce

Another great way to build your network is through shared goals. Maybe you’re trying to turn your side hustle into a full-time gig, or perhaps you just want to make some extra money for a dream vacation. Whatever your goal, finding people with similar aspirations can give you a sense of camaraderie.

Networking doesn’t have to be intimidating. Instead of diving into formal networking events right away, start by building relationships with a few like-minded individuals. These connections, though small, can be incredibly strong and mutually beneficial. Supporting each other’s growth is the secret sauce to success.

Location: The Hub of Connection

Whether in-person or virtual, location plays a major role in building community. As we emerge from the pandemic, many people are craving in-person events to connect on a deeper level. But don’t underestimate the power of digital communities!

In my own business, fostering community has always been a priority. I’m focused on creating both physical and digital spaces where women can connect, share, and grow together. Whether it’s through meetups, live coaching, or online support, connection is key.

Final Thoughts

Building a successful business is hard work, but doing it alone makes it even harder. Prioritize building meaningful relationships—both online and offline—to support your business growth and personal well-being. Whether through shared life stages, common goals, or simply the power of community, these connections can transform your side hustle into something extraordinary.

Stay fabulous, and I’ll see you in the next post!
